The Veteran’s Tribute

The veteran stands tall. He has served with honor. He has served with distinction. And he has served with devotion—unyielding, steadfast, and true.

He knows that many take his service for granted, that few truly understand the weight of sacrifice required to keep this nation free, to ensure it holds its place in the world. Yet he carries no regrets.

It is often a thankless duty, but he would do it all again. For the cost of not serving is far too great, far too costly.

He did it for her family. He did it for his friends. He did it for his nation.

He bears the scars of war, but he also sees the fruit of his labor, the freedom, the safety, the promise, the future. It brings him comfort and a measure of peace.

Though the load has been heavy, he feels the weight was worth carrying, side by side with those who shared the burden. The path was often difficult, and unthinkably hard, but he is grateful to have walked it.

Today, we recognize him. Today we honor her. Today, we remember them.

To the veteran, happy Veteran’s Day.
